Education – Conservation – Observation
In 1992, I fell in love with the underwater world. A relationship that only intensified once I got my first underwater camera in 1993. Today, over two thousand dives later, I am even more fascinated by the underwater world and the changes I can witness. My career also allowed me to pursue my passion for photography above the surface. I had the privilege to see Canada from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific Ocean, with all its beauty in between. My goal is not only to take an image; I want to capture a moment, tell a story with a picture, spark the viewer’s interest, and show emotion. I see myself as an ambassador for wildlife, using my photographs to give a voice to those who otherwise won’t be heard. My photos are far from perfect from a photography point of view, with only a minimum of post-editing. I hope to show you the wildlife how you would have seen it, and all the images here or on my social media are unique moments. If you are interested in purchasing an image, please let me know.

To see the King of the Arctic in its natural habitat is a privilege and a rewarding moment. With the heaviest polar bears weighing in at over two thousand pounds, these majestic ambassadors of the Arctic have no real threat other than humans. Working for Churchill Wild allowed me to photograph polar bears in the remote location of Fireweed Island and Hubbard Point, just north of the Caribou River.

Interactions between species are always special moments to witness. In the fall of 2023, we were waiting for the Cloud Wolves of the Kaska Coast to return to the heart of their territory, the Opoyastin River. A single black wolf suddenly appeared while the pack of grey wolves kept eluding us. Less than one per cent of all grey wolves are black; this female was the first black grey wolf since March 2019. Usually, wolves and bears follow their separate paths, but on this day, the wolf casually walked by a young polar bear chewing on a moose antler.

Knight Inlet is a unique place in coastal British Columbia. In this remote location, grizzly bears frequent the coastline to feed on grass and forage in the intertidal zone. Like everywhere else in British Columbia, the main threat for grizzly bears is deforestation and loss of habitat. Watching these large land carnivores in their natural habitat is rewarding. Like many other species, the grizzly bear’s future is uncertain.

Once you have seen a wolf up close in the wild, it is difficult to forget this encounter. The grey wolves on the Kaska Coast of southern Hudson Bay do not see humans as a threat yet; their curiosity often wins over their instinct, allowing for some magical moments.

My passion for photography started underwater. Over sixty per cent of the planet’s surface is covered with water. Below the surface is another world, a unique and fragile ecosystem unknown to the most. Please allow me to take you on a journey into the underwater world of the Bras d’Or Lake and the Atlantic Coast around Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Hundreds of ships found their final resting place on these rocky shores, amongst them the Le Celebre’, which was sunk during the siege of the Fortress of Louisbourg. The Bras d’Or Lake is not only a UNESCO World Biosphere but also a unique and fragile ecosystem, its future threatened by aggressive fish farming.
When I am not behind the camera, I am probably writing a new book. When I started writing, I aimed to create a character who is easy to identify with. My first two thrillers, “THIN ICE” and “DARK TIMES”, follow the life of young Marine Biologist Natascha. Her adventures take her to the North-West passage and all over Europe, fighting intrigue, lies, and corruption.
“DARK TIMES” has won nine international literary awards.
